News from August 8, 2009:
We have heard of the sad passing of out Honorary Member Professor Bryan Jennett. He was the leading figure in Neurotrauma in the world and continued to write actively into his 80’s with his most recent book: ''The Vegetative state''. He will be remembered as one of the Fathers of Neurotrauma Teaching and Research in the world. His wisdom will be missed but some of it is immortalised in his writings.

Professor Klaus von Wild, Founding and Honorary President of EMN was awarded on March 25., 2009:- The AL AZHAR University, Cairo, appointed Klaus von Wild, MD. Ph.D., Muenster, Germany, PROFESSOR HONORIS CAUSA in recognition of his outstanding scientific contribution and cross cultural efforts on neurorehabilitation and reconstructive neurosurgery of the damaged brain and spinal cord.
- Also Prof. Klaus von Wild signed and was involved in composing the Beijing Declaration of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR) adopted by the 2nd IARN Conference General Assembly, Beijing, 26. April, 2009.

Alexander Potapov, Vice Director Russian Burdenko Neurosurgical Institut, 6th EMN 2001 Congrees President, AMN representative Middle and East Europe, Member of he Russian Academy of Medical Sience, celebrated his 60th anniversary in Moscow on July 5th together with his friends, following his most sucessful international congress (with more than 450 international participants from 22 countries) at the Burdenko and Mocow Marriot-Hotel on ''Mental recovery after TBI''.1.

The 12th annual Meeting of the EMN in Rome, Italy, included the election of the EMN Presidium for 2008-2010.
Honorary membership was awarded to Prof. Malcolm Ross Bullock, Richmond, VA, USA and Prof. Alex Valadka, Houston, TX, USA.
Corresponding membership was awarded to Prof. Alex Valadka, Houston, TX, USA.The Brain Trauma Foundation has updated their Guidelines for the Management of Severe Head Injury (originally published in 1995, first update in 2000). Klaus von Wild appointed to a professorship at the INI (Hannover) Klaus von Wild was appointed to a professorship for Functional Neurorehabilitation in Neurosurgery and Re-Engineering in Brain and Spinal Cord Lesions at the International Neuroscience Institute (INI, Hannover). Here he will organize the annual meeting of the WFNS Committe for Functional Rehabilitation in Neurosurgery as 3rd symposium on Functional Neurorehabilitation in Neurosurgery and Re-Engineering in Brain and Spinal Cord Lesions, June 16. - 19., 2004.
